Thought I would just give a quick heads up on home made chalk paint.
This is my go to recipe that I ALWAYS use:
Easy peasy.
First thing you need to get is plaster of Paris.
I buy mine at The Range.
It is £5.99 for 2.5 kilos.
They come in .5 kilo sachets so is good for a crafter to have as you only ever need a bit at a time.
So here goes, you should have your plaster of Paris, a good quality emulsion (I prefer eggshell paints but ANY paint with an excellent coverage will do) and hot water.
First, add one part plaster of Paris into a container (that you can throw away afterwards):
Then pour in one part hot water and stir briskly to dissolve the POP:
Next, quickly add three parts of your chosen paint and mix thoroughly:
That's it!
You are ready to upcycle ANYTHING!
It really IS that easy.
A tip I would offer is to make small batches at first.
It is so quick to make up that I only ever use a small batch at a time as it tends to dry up quickly.
Now stop procrastinating and go and have FUN!
Toodles
This is EXACTLY the tutorial I've been waiting for. Thank you!!! My plaster of paris has been sitting on my dresser since October and I've been too cautious to try it for fear I have the whole how-to wrong. I'll wait til I don't have kiddiwinks to interfere with my painting and I'll be on it :D my dresser really needs doing and I have the perfect paint. *squeak*
