Tables turned

Hi guys.

Yesterday was a day of crafting nothing but a large thermal pot of veggie biriani and cupcakes for a friend's party (the recipients of the mosaic plaque!)

All the chintzy bling is simply a few purchases from good old Home Bargains. They do the carry boxes, toppers and cases for under a quid each!

(The boxes are reusable too although these ones got 'tidied up' during the cleaning afterwards.)

.....

Today's crafting project was about tables.

A month ago I bought a table and 8 chairs for £75 off Gumtree.

I sold my old table and chairs to a friend (the old table was now too big for my room as my furniture is growing in the dining room)

Sadly though, when I went to collect it, it was dismantled, so I did not realise that one of the wooden supports was not there and there were missing camlocks too.

The seller neglected to point this out.!!!  Ggrr.

This meant that every time I moved the table to accommodate an area for painting (it's my workshop corner), the table started falling apart!!!!!!!!!!!

Today was the last straw.

I looked on gumtree again and saw this:

It is certainly sturdy and solid and once the leaves are up, it is a similar size to the 8 seater that is now fated to live the remainder of its life as my new outdoor table (I've glued the joints so hopefully it will weather the elements. I just won't move it around a lot!)

I will treat the wood over the next few days for outdoor use.

I want to be rid of the thing but can't sell it with a clean conscience and I guess it could still be functional for occasional outdoor entertaining.

Anyhow, back to the 'new' table, I have given the frame and legs the chalk treatment. The last coat is drying as I type:

I've used some of the French Grey but lightened it with antique white.

I may use 2 waxes, clear and dark, but I'm undecided yet. :)

I will certainly put a clear coat on tomorrow and then decide about the dark wax later.

I am absolutely zonked!

No car boot for me tomorrow :O

(I've decided to be sensible and get my dining room in order instead.)

Bedtime for Bonzo...

Toodles x
